About Chula Vista
Chula Vista is the second-largest city in the San Diego metropolitan area, located between the San Diego Bay and coastal mountain foothills. Incorporated in 1911, the city’s name comes from the Spanish for “Beautiful View.” It is the second-largest city in San Diego County with a population of 276,000.
Surrounded by over 52 square miles of coastal landscape, canyons, rolling hills, mountains, and parks, with miles of bicycling, hiking, and walking trails, Chula Vista is home to the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center, Sesame Place San Diego, North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre, Chula Vista Marina, and the Living Coast Discovery Center.
The downtown area features major retailers, dining, movie theaters, and more than 100 specialty shops. Third Avenue Village, considered the cultural center of the city, features historic buildings, unique shops, a vibrant area of restaurants, breweries, and coffee shops, and seasonal events.
The Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center is about 15 minutes from downtown San Diego. The hotel is about 20 minutes from Chula Vista’s Otay Ranch Town Center—an exciting outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment destination with a variety of amenities including a library, outdoor cafes, food pavilion, fireplace, and play fountain.
