Topic: How Straive Data Platform enables your Publishing Strategy
“Content is King” but in today’s connected world. Data is the king maker. New content formats, business models and choices for consumers means that every publisher needs to look at their data crtitically to enable better decisions. This requires creating an overall data strategy and enabling data governance and enrichment across both internal and public data. Straive Data Platform (SDP) is powered to support this requirement. Learn how SDP can help you.

Joe Adams, Senior Director of Sales, Morressier
Joe Adams has a background in academic publishing, with a 10 year tenure at Wiley leading the corporate sales teams in EMEA. He is a strong advocate for expanding publishing models to include early stage research as well as multimedia formats in order to make academic publishing more accessible and engaging. Joe is currently the Senior Director of Sales at Morressier.

Topic: The Power of Integration
In a world that grows more complex each day, solutions that integrate like puzzle pieces save societies and publishers time, and lead to a better user experience for members and authors. Integrating technology leads to efficiency (and cost-saving), and when that integrated technology leads to greater interconnection between early and late-stage research, we end up with a better understanding of scientific knowledge and clearer recognition for researchers' impact.

Doug Clendenin,  EVP Strategy, Gutenberg Technology
As a member of the GT leadership team, Doug helps establish the long-term strategic direction of the company. This includes strategic change initiatives to drive growth, corporate strategy and communication, business development, strategic partnership opportunities, and client success initiatives. Prior to GT, Doug owned and operated DMC Advisory, a consulting firm that worked with founders and senior executives of early stage companies looking to accelerate their growth by building various internal operating "machines," which enabled rapid scalability. Before DMC Advisory, Doug spent fifteen years in the financial services industry, most recently working at a leading FinTech company, as one of the initial members of the executive leadership team.

Topic: Instant Course: Bringing Agile to Course Development
Courseware creation is expensive, and often cost prohibitive for low enrollment courses. Many times, eBooks are used instead, which is far from optimal. We’ll demonstrate how recent innovations in content transformation, rapid authoring, and push button distribution remove these cost barriers, better serving students and generating new revenue streams for publishers.

Mary Sweny, Business Development Director, Researcher
Mary has been with Researcher for 3 years working on partnerships and new business. Prior to Researcher Mary has spent over 20 years working in various marketing, sales and business development roles with some of the most prestigious brands in academic publishing, including Europa Publications, Routledge, Taylor & Francis, BioMed Central, Springer and was Head of Marketing, Digital & Operations at Springer Nature.

Topic: Research dissemination has been too complicated for too long. Researcher-app.com simplifies discovery and promotes discussion. We have built a suite of innovative tools that help Academics, Publishers, Societies & Life Science companies to connect and communicate directly with their peers and niche audiences from around the globe.

John Challice, SVP of Business Development, Hum
John Challice is the SVP of Business Development for Hum. John’s entire career has been spent serving the not-for-profit sector. He’s passionate about how data can improve your life, and he’s beyond excited to be helping associations move easily and quickly into leading-edge, next-gen CDP technology as part of their digital transformations. John grew up in western Canada and now lives with his two big dogs in the heart of New York City (where he and they get plenty of exercise).

Topic: For most scholarly publishers, data is the missing step in the true digital transformation of publishing. In particular, publishers need to understand data at the intersection of people and content. Hum provides the technology and insights to turn publishers into true data-centric organizations.

Dan Valen, Head of Strategic Development, Figshare
Dan joined Figshare in early 2014 as its first US-based employee. In his current role, he focuses on the development of Figshare in the academic publisher, researcher, and biopharmaceutical community though building strategic partnerships, community engagement, and educational outreach. Dan helps provide a lateral perspective across the research data management landscape in assessing the needs of researchers, academic publishers, and institutions alike, while also offering guidance on current industry trends. In his previous roles, Dan spent over 6 years at one of the largest open access STEM publishers. When he’s not busy repping Team Figshare, Dan enjoys debating the merits of advanced statistics in sports (reach out if anyone wants to talk Fenwick vs. Corsi vs. xG), tweaking his vintage stereo setup, and geeking over seasonal dinner recipes.

Topic: Figshare+
Over the past 10 years, we have observed a remarkable growth in data sharing coupled with institutional, publisher, and funder policies for public access to research data. Along with this has come the recognition that making data open is not sufficient to make it reusable. The development of the FAIR principles in 2014 has helped unite global initiatives with a broad, common goal to make open data “Finable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable” according to community standards. With Figshare+ and Figshare Curation Services, Figshare is looking to address a gap between the publishing of data and the publishing of high quality data and help make research published on Figshare more FAIR.
