Lori Carlin, Chief Commercial Officer, Delta Think
With more than twenty-five years of experience in scholarly communications and association management, Lori Carlin is a recognized expert in business strategy, customer and market insight, and change management. Lori is currently the Chief Commercial Officer and Senior Consultant at Delta Think, a consultancy focused on strategy, and has also held senior positions for a number of scholarly publishers and societies. With both creative and technical expertise, Lori is adept at building effective strategies and methodologies, helping professional societies and corporations develop and deliver results that best meet and exceed customer needs. She is also very active in the scholarly communications industry, having served as a board member, committee chair, and committee member for many organizations, including SSP, ALPSP, OSAPA, and ASAE.

Gabe Harp, Product Strategy Lead, Oak AI
Gabe Harp currently leads  product strategy at OAK AI, focused on taking ethical approaches to building a better internet.He has held numerous roles across multiple organizations including Cell Press / Elsevier, The MIT Press, Research Square, Springer Nature, and MPS. He loves bringing people and technology together to build products that help researchers and academics—ranging from the Article of the Future to the Research Square preprint platform to Curie, a leading AI-powered writing assistant. Having recently completed his term on the SSP Board of Directors, he enjoys mentoring others and volunteering with various industry initiatives. Outside of work, he relishes time with family and delights in outdoor activities. Fun fact: he has completed 36% of his quest to hike every inch of every trail in Maine’s Baxter State Park.

Rebecca McLeod, Managing Director, Harvard Data Science Review
Rebecca McLeod is the Managing Director for the Harvard Data Science Review (HDSR,) the Harvard Data Science Initiative’s open access platform. In this role, she oversees all business, publishing, and program operations of HDSR. Rebecca has an extensive range of experience in scholarly communications having worked in marketing, editorial development, operations, and relationship management roles with publishers and service providers, and with nonprofit and commercial organizations. Rebecca is very active in the scholarly communications industry having chaired and served on multiple committees for the Association of University Presses, the Professional and Scholarly Division of the American Publishers’ Association and the Society for Scholarly Publishing. She is a founding member of the Boston Women’s Information Network (BWIN) and currently serves on the Boards of Directors for the Society of Scholarly Publishing (SSP) and the National Information Standards Organization (NISO).

Heather Staines, Director of Community Engagement and Senior Consultant, Delta Think
Heather Ruland Staines is a Senior Consultant at Delta Think, where she also serves as Director of Community Engagement for the Open Access Data Analytics Tool. Her previous roles include Head of Partnerships at the MIT Knowledge Futures Group, Director of Partnerships for Hypothesis, the ProQuest Global Content Alliance, SIPX (formerly the Stanford Intellectual Property Exchange), and Springer SBM (now Springer Nature). She began her publishing career as a book acquisitions editor for Praeger Publishers, where she was eventually Editorial Director for Praeger Security International. She is a frequent participant in industry events, including the Society or Scholarly Publishing, Charleston Library Conference, Council of Science Editors, ISMTE, ALPSP, Force11, STM, and more. In August 2016, she joined Project COUNTER as a member of their Board of Directors, and now serves on the Executive Committee. She is currently the President of the Society for Scholarly Publishers and a Board member for NASIG. She earned a Ph.D. in Military History from Yale University.

Sue Kesner
Sue Kesner, a past president of the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP), spent her entire career in some form of scholarly communication—first as a librarian, then working for various information companies. Retiring from the formal workplace in 2019, she has stayed active in SSP by guiding the organization's highly regarded blog, The Scholarly Kitchen, serving on the Generations Fund Committee, and providing sage advice to mentees.

No refunds will be processed for webinars. SSP encourages you to send a substitute in your place if you cannot attend and the webinar is recorded and available to registered attendees for 60 days after the broadcast. SSP reserves the right to cancel any program.
